The Scent of Spring

 What comes to mind when you think of spring? Close your eyes and inhale. Can you smell the flowers? That fresh green smell? Can you hear the koel? Can you see the colours of Holi in the air? It's spring. Soon it will be kite season. Pick a new scent and match the colours to your mood. Take a look:

SOL Cheirosa '62 Eau de Parfum was launched in 2020. The nose behind this fragrance is Jerome Epinette. Top notes are Pistachio and Almond; middle notes are Heliotrope and Jasmine; base notes are Caramel, Vanilla, Salt and Sandalwood. Match it with  a Dior gown in yellow worn with a tie and dye jacket in green. Finish up with a matching tie-and-dye bag- all from Dior.

Shine by Dolce and Gabbana is light and bright with classic notes for spring. It is a fruit and floral-based fragrance, part sultry, part quirky, thanks to its mango, jasmine, and grapefruit notes. Pair it with Ralph Lauren maxi or an Oscar-de-la-Renta peplum hem mini dress with a lemon print and a white jacket from Alice and Olivia. Do the pretty for spring '21

 So spring is here. Vasanth Panchami is gone and Holi's time has come. Elsewhere in the world,  spring has been heralded by the equinox on 2oth march. It is time to slip into clothes that are lighter and brighter. This spring you can unabashedly wear floaty, feminine, retro and vintage clothes and accessories and feel like a Jane Austen heroine thanks to Bridgerton inspired fashion this season. Take a look:

 

Whites and creams have the field for a fresh and pretty look. accessorize with bows, flowers and clips.

Another option is to wear the season's colours in softer hues.

If you must use the brighter hues of the season- soften them with floral prints and cottagecore designs to keep within the feminine spectrum.

 It's all women power this week and I dedicate this post to all the COVID -19 Women Warriors, who are still braving infection to help people. Thank you so much!

The '80's was all about women power, and here you have glitter and glamour, powerful shoulders and puffed sleeves in the dress, with a padded coat. Do yourself proud!

Pink is such a feminine shade, but hot pink packs a punch! a matching set, broken up by a dolman sleeved blouse, evokes the '80's and women power- Thatcher, Madonna, Oprah, Benazir Bhutto, Princess Diana, were some of them.

A power look for you! Collared knits, pleats and slits with a  neon green jacket spell oomph.

Orange and blue, especially a knit dress make a stunning combo!

All white, with plisse pleats and stomach ties are de riguer. Break up the look with a slouchy cardigan and no nonsense boots.

A Suit, is always in style, especially so it has a mini skirt with a slit. Bright marigold accessories add a punch and the bra top is floral and sweet. Add chains for a hard edge.

Neutrals need not be discreet. Pleats and a collarless jacket keep this look clean and current.

Step up the pretty with a pussy bow, but under a suit to keep the look powerful. The bright blue and mint contrast well and add interest. Repeat the bow on the shoe for a winner.

The 80's disco style and how to wear it in 2021

 The disco style has made its way into 2021,perhaps because everyone wants a bit of colour and glam during the gloom induced by the pandemic. How can one update it for 2021? Take a look:

Just style the glittering pair of shorts with denim to tone it down. Keep the colours glowing. Then you can dance through the day!

Make the neutral colour sparkle and let the bolder colour sing on its own.

Make a bold statement in all black.

Neutrals in shiny materials are fine, paired with a metallic top.

Orange glows on its own, but in metallic materials or with glitter, it takes the outfit to another level. With acid green,and neutrals, add a touch of orange and watch yourself enter another dimension.

Velvet is another great material. Pair a velvet suit with glowing florals for another take on this style.

Pretty as a picture and very trendy in a puffer and glittering dolman sleeved mini dress!

Glitter can be elegant as well. Play with lengths. Black and silver is very now.

Glitter and disco inspired clothing could be feminine , mysterious and very elegant.
